Caitlin, 20 months

The problem with his little toddler is that she is super clingy to me. I'm her source of comfort and food which never fails to sooth her day or night, on demand at any time whenever I'm in her sight. So as long as she sees me, she will fuss for "Ma ma! Ma ma! Milk!" Sigh. My parents said that when I leave her with them, she is totally a perfect little angel, she will play by herself, play with her gor gor and she won't cry and fuss.

Speech Milestones:

She can speak a lot of words now.
She can call everybody in the family including "gu po" and "ye ye".
She can tell people what she wants and what she doesn't. Boy, she's very obstinate on what she thinks is right! A typical conversation goes like this:
Mummy points to picture of a camel and says, "Mei mei, camel!"
Caitlin shakes head in disagreement, "Horse!"
Mummy says, "No, camel."
Caitlin says, "horse!"
Mummy says, "Camel."
Caitlin stamps her feet and shouts, "Horse!"
Mummy says, "Ok, horse."
Caitlin nods, "Horse."
The same goes for duck and goose (I say goose, she says duck when it's obviously a goose!).
When gor gor snatches her things or shouts at her, she looks pitiful, points at him and complains to me "Gor gor! Gor gor!"

She likes to use her sweet girly voice to say "Share share?" whenever Kieran disallow her to play with his toys or when I disallow her to play with my iPhone. Very smart girl. The sweet voice and cute face just melt your heart and make you so incline to say yes.

Physical Milestones:

She's rather petite but she's within the normal weight and height range, and she looks chubby. So we are not worried.
She can climb up the playground slide, ladder, anything with little assistance. Very agile and active. Kieran wasn't as brave and agile at her age.Caitlin rushes to the playground and squeal in delight. Kieran would look fearful and stand by to observe before he decides its safe to climb up the playground ladder.

17 months and still latching on!

My little boy at 17 months old used to hold my hand and guide me into a room, saying "Walk nat, walk nat, walk nat..." when he wanted to latch on to drink milk milk.

My little girl at 17 months is now holding my hand and guide me into a room, saying "Milk, milk, milk..."

Super cute, these two little ones!!!

Caitlin is reaching the toddler milestone in a month's time, and she is very healthy, very active, talking a lot more words now, and she has been saying "milk" all day, demanding to be latched on.

Caitlin is walking!

Little Caitlin is walking! She took her first few steps a few days ago and she's 16 months. She's walking very steadily now! Watching her toddling around makes my heart burst with joy. She's so tiny and cute and she's walking so gingerly, putting both arms out to balance and bravely taking steady steps one by one!

She's talking a lot too. She can say "No more" and make the no more hand sign. I love it when she says this because she sounds just so demure and cute! And she'll say "yeah..." sweetly when she meant yes to our questions. So sweet!

Left handed?

Kieran has been showing preference for left hands. Here's a picture of him tracing straight lines. I've got him a few books from Popular Bookstore that he can practise tracing, reading etc.

I'm amazed by this boy's intellectual development. At just 3 years old, he can recite several Tang poems (唐诗), recites 满江红 and first few verses of 弟子规, talks and reasons like an adult, understands Mandarin mostly but also understands and speaks some English, recognise several Chinese words like (人,外,小,一,多), and can already trace lines well enough. I'm not starting on the writing because I don't want him to learn how to read and write so quickly but I think if I do, he'll be able to write well already.

And my mom came to teach me how to make tasty soft bread today!

Before baking

After baking.

Easy to guess which shape is for Kieran and which is for Caitlin! Car shape bread for Kieran and bear shape one for Caitlin :)

The children shaped the dough and played with the flour. Delicious and healthy wholemeal bread for the family!

Kieran is obsessed with Transformers and any vehicles that can transform into robots lately. He's a fan of Robocar Poli and Tobot! Here's daddy teaching Kieran how to transform an Autobot Hound, and Mei mei Caitlin is watching closely beside them. A family bonding time before bed.

Caitlin's First Step!

As of today, Caitlin is 15 months and 24 days old. Today, she just took her first step! She has been trying to stand and walk by herself since last month and today, she has finally done it! Hurray! Baby steps but our guess is that before the end of the week, she'll be toddling around the house!

We went to Changi Airport Terminal 3 to see the Disney installations. Here's Caitlin at the T3 Kopitiam (where there's vegetarian food stall! Yeah!) drinking from her sippy cup by herself.

Caitlin looking cute!

Kieran looking cute!

Enjoying home cooked kway teow and mee, cooked with love by daddy. Even when going out, we make sure the children have healthy home cooked meals. We bought a good tumbler (保温壶) to keep the food warm.

Little Caitlin is also developing well speech wise.

Here's some of the milestones reached.

Motor skills:
  • Great hand eye coordination. She picks up tiny objects from the ground with great expertise. We just have to make sure she don't put them into her mouth.
  • Can cruise around the house.
  • Crawls well and now learning to walk. Can take a few steps unaided!

Speech skills:
  • Calls mama, ah mah, papa, gor gor (calls him da da)
  • Tries to vocalise "ah gong" but can't say out.
  • Recognise and says bear as "Bah"
  • Recognise many objects like apple (she makes a eating gesture), rabbit (she jumps), lion (she roars), cow (she moos), goat (she says baa!), fish and bird (she makes kiss gesture to shows she loves them), flowers (she says "hua"), stars (makes twinkle twinkle gestures with hands), sun (sings ah ah ah because I sing 太阳公公 whenever I point to the sun), moon (she tries to say "moon").

Although Caitlin's speech development isn't as fast as her gor gor's, she's quite on par with children at her age. Jia you, Caitlin! It's such a joy to hug this little angel close to me everyday, smell her pleasant scent, kiss her soft cheek and feel her soft hair everyday! And she's so loving. She will kiss my cheek and daddy's cheek. She's not as milk milk addict as Kieran was before but she definitely loves her milk milk. She still nurses a few times a day and every time to sleep. She wakes up several times at night to nurse. But I'm not complaining. Co-sleeping helps very much in getting enough sleep for me, and she soothes back to sleep easily with nursing. Her favourite person is mummy! Who else can provide food (milk), comfort, fun all in one?

One thing I notice about play in Caitlin that is very different from Kieran, is that when she is given an object like a ring, she will put it over her arm and wear it like a bangle. Kieran will never attempt that! It's a girl thing, I guess? Haha. Children never cease to amaze me :)

Never fail to amaze us!

The children never cease to amaze us! Kieran said he's going to do yoga, and went to spread the 3-fold mattress out by himself, then he put his hands and head on the mattress and did a somersault! I never knew he could do somersault by himself, and I clapped and told him to show it to papa later. He ran out to look for papa, and then realised papa is working. Haha!

And two days ago, my little daughter has learnt to stand up by pressing her hands onto a support.

At 10 months old, Caitlin can call "Mama!", "Ah ma" and crawl with hands and feet, leopard crawl at times, and stand up by herself with support.

Regarding toilet training Kieran, it was a great success. After a few weeks of accidents at night, he don't need to wake up to pee anymore. Now, its 一觉到天亮. I was afraid he might pee and would wake him up to pee when he stirred in his sleep, but he, sleepy eyed, told me "I want to sleep" and fall back to sleep. For nap time too, he skipped the mid-nap pee which he used to have few weeks ago. He's also willing to pee into the public toilet, other people's house's toilets, and he's pooping into toilet bowl on a kid's toilet seat, and would tell us when he needs to go. Very very happy with his progress. Considered fully toilet trained at 32 months!

Oh, and one happy thing that happened today is my darling daughter called "Mama!" at 10 month old. Sweet sweet little voice! Loud and Clear! Hahaha

Updates on the kids!

I FINALLY HAVE TIME TO BLOG!

Time to update this blog...

Phew... Taking care of 2 children isn't easy. Even with my mom here to help on weekdays.

Little baby Caitlin is now 7 weeks 3 days old.

She's a little darling. She's STILL in the eat, sleep, pee & poo phase. Thank goodness. She's a rather peaceful baby and easy to care for although there's one thing that isn't easy... When she's hungry, she don't give warning. She'll suddenly wake up from sleep, and give a sudden and loud and shrill cry which escalates to scream within minutes if milk isn't served. My mom said she's a fierce girl!

I'm a little sad that she didn't inherit her daddy's eyes and nose. Never mind, she's still our pretty princess.

She's 4.3kg at 6 weeks. Doctor said she's on 25th-50th percentile during her check up and first vaccination at Sengkang Polyclinic.

Babies grow up so quickly. She could fit into many of the 0-3 months rompers now, and even though the 3-6 months romper looks big on her, she could wear them too.

Breastfeeding is a breeze. Really easy for a second time mom who has breastfed the older child to toddlerhood.

Now Kieran.

I tried giving the breast to Kieran and once put it into his mouth and ask him to suck. He smiles shyly whenever I ask him to try. And he kept refusing. One time, he tried and I felt him sucking it like sucking the straw. He only sucked once and said he don't want it.

I enjoy hugging my little Kieran. He's so much fun! He could sing and recite all of the nursery rhymes and the poems we taught him, even the Hokkien ones! I watched him play with his cars, trucks, legos, everything with wheels, noisily making zroooom, zrooooom, beep beep sounds, and I wondered how long can he be in such adorable and innocent phase? He asked me to pat him to sleep, and he turned around to say "bye bye ah gong, bye bye mah" in such a sweet manner that my parents laughed. Sometimes he will say bye bye to his cars and trucks and tell them that he will play with them later. He held on to my blouse, followed behind me and sing the choo choo train song as he walked. When he first learnt to walk, he used to say "walk nat, walk nat, walk nat." when he hold my hand and happily walk around with me. He invented the words himself. Many months later, now, he suddenly say "walk nat, walk nat" as he held my hand and lead me into a room. He hadn't held my hand to walk in the house for a very long time since he could walk by himself. Now that he could explain himself, I asked him what he means by "walk nat". He thought for a very long time and then replied "Walk walk lor." LOL.

At one year old, Kieran could vocalise sounds to mean different objects like "ah per" for apple and "mah" for mummy.

At 13 months, he could call everyone. He could call "mama, papa, ah gong, ah mah, nai nai, yeye, gu po, etc".

Before he's 18 months, he could already name all objects correctly, and if you tell him something, he repeats after you. At first he could only say 2 syllabus like "helicopter", he would say "hop ter" but gradually, he spoke 3 syllabus. He repeats after you when you talk to him, and he will laugh and giggle, but he didn't actually reply you.

At 19 months, one day, when I was tidying the room and moving a clothes rack, he came to "help" and move the clothes rack too. I told him "it's dangerous!" Kieran turned to look meaningfully at me when I said that, and I thought he would repeat after what I said. Instead, he surprised me by replying, "No lah." And I surprised him by laughing out loud. From then onwards, he could reply our questions meaningfully. At 19 months, he could actually have a conversation with us. If you ask him "Kieran, is this a pear?", he no longer repeats "pear" after you. He would reply "Yes, pear." or "No, banana"

At 20 months, he could recite the entire nursery rhymes from memory. We were fooling around, hubby, Kieran and I at the living room, and Kieran suddenly sang "San Lun Che" (三轮车) and pronounced the words so well! Yilin and I were so surprised, we stopped to listen and clapped loudly after Kieran's done. He laughed and continued to talk and sing more. He really couldn't stop talking once he started.

At 22 months, he could talk in full sentences and he replied you intelligently if you called him on a telephone and talk to him. He could tell you what he learnt in school, and where he went, and who bought what for him, and who taught him which song.

So its a great pleasure playing with and talking to little Kieran. He loves hugs and cuddles and he'll often run to me and hug me. He's such a darling! I'm sure little Caitlin will also grow up a talker with her older brother's influence!

Kieran is 23 months, 1 week and 6 days old today. He'll be celebrating his 2 year old birthday soon! I'm bringing him to have a birthday celebration at Swenson's at NEX this Friday. Kieran has 2 other friends, Jodi and Xin Ning who were born around the same date at the same year, and they are my friends' daughters, so we mummies are going to celebrate the 3 rabbit babies' birthday together. The kids will love the ice cream cake! On 6 October, we'll do another celebration for him at Ye ye & Nai nai's house and this one will be with all his favourite loved ones. Grandparents, grandaunt, uncle and 2 aunts will be there. And on 10 October, the actual day, we are going to his school at 3pm with a cake and celebrate his birthday there, singing birthday song with all his teachers and classmates.

We're going to have lots of fun!

Kieran reciting Chinese Nursery Rhyme

I promised to upload Kieran's video of him reciting “三轮车跑得快”, so here it is.
I tried to capture him saying 弟子规(总序)but he refused. So better luck next time!

3rd trimester tired mummy & smart 20 month old Kieran

3rd trimester.

The tiredness really sets in.

I'm glad my mom comes to help so that I can occasionally hide away in my room while Kieran is with her outside. Glad my dad and my mother in law comes to help too. I can't imagine being away from Kieran for long period of time.

The haze is terrible. Even now when the PSI level is lower and not as choking as few days ago, I still feel that the air quality is not good. I'm not letting Kieran go outdoors often and I myself wear N95 or a surgical mask if its not that bad, whenever I need to send Kieran to school or bring him back, or bring him to nearby shopping malls.

Kieran is getting really smart!

2 days ago, he shocked us by reciting the Di Zi Gui (弟子規)and he's only 20 months old!

I'll try to upload his super cute video soon. He could recite the first few verses:

弟子规 圣人训 首孝弟 次谨信
泛爱众 而亲仁 有余力 则学文

He can also recite the nursery rhyme:
三轮车  跑得快  上面坐个老太太
要五毛  给一块  你说奇怪不奇怪?

Hubby and I were laughing and feeling so happy when he recited all these. Kieran learns things very fast. We just casually taught him these and he picked them up so soon.

He also loves to sing and sings along whenever I sing him nursery rhyme songs. He will occasionally sings out wheel on the bus, twinkle twinkle little star and 一闪一闪亮晶晶. Its so interesting to hear him sing. Children really have super brains. Absorbs so fast! All the more I must be a good example and not teach him bad things. Or let him see me say or do bad things. There was once he kept saying 吃大便 (eat shit in mandarin) and hubby was very angry, and firmly told him no! and hit his palm. He said that the next day again and was scolded again. Not sure who taught him that as we didn't say it. Maybe papa accidentally said it and he picked it up. Parents are role models for our children and we've got to be careful of our thoughts and behaviours at all times. If I find my child is naughty, the first thing to do is to reflect upon myself (检视自己) as there must be things I have said or done, consciously or subconsciously that affects my beloved child. Understand oneself, understand the child, only then can one be a good parent. Parenthood is such a challenging and yet wonderful journey that I love!

Kieran is no longer a baby

I suddenly realised, with some mixed feelings, that my little precious is no longer a baby now. He's a big grown boy!

Kieran weighs 10kg and is 81cm tall. He's a pleasant, mild tempered and happy boy.

He no longer has that chubby baby look. But of course he's still cute nevertheless. He's so smart, picking up words and sentences, and able to see logical relations between concepts. I'm amazed by how smart kids can be. His development verbal and reasoning wise is much more advanced than motor skills. Whenever he opens a book or see pictures or objects and animals he is interested in, he will talk and talk and talk, and wants the adults to explain these things to him. But when he goes to a playground which requires him to work those limbs and balancing skills, or when he sees older kids running around the playground or park, he looks in wonder and seems like he wants to join in but he's afraid because his balancing and motor skills isn't very good yet. I'm hoping to see my boy running around confidently, and climbing up and slide down the slide again and again. But before that, I'll be patient and wait for him to develop at his own pace.

At the playground again. Noticed that he has grown taller? He now prefers playing "cooking" than climbing up and down the slide and playing the see saw.

One of his favourite place is the library and he absolutely loves books although he really would only read for a while and then start running around and exploring the library which is an amazing new world to him. Haha. He loves to search for books, take them out of the shelves and bring them to me for me to read to him.

All about words

Baby can say some words and recognize names of things now.

He learnt that star shaped things are called "star" so he point to them when I ask him "where is star?" and he will also crawl excitedly to star shaped patterns and tell me "Tar!"

He also know that apples are called "apple" when I take one whole red apple to let him hold and explore. Then I scrap and feed some of the sweet juicy apples to him! He can point to an orange instead of an apple when I ask him "Where is orange?" but he calls all round and reddish fruits "Per".

His first word of all is actually "bah" for bus. One fine day, he goes around saying "bah" the whole day and we realized that he was pointing to passing by buses and pictures of buses on posters and books and saying "bah!". Now he is starting to call daddy "bah bah" too.

And after that, he also call "bear" and "bird" by modifying the "bah" sound a little bit.

He points to cars when I ask where is car? And he calls cars "Tar", same as stars.

He can say bubbles as "ber ber" now when I blow bubbles and tell him they are bubbles.

One day, he spends the whole day making growling noises and we don't know why he's doing that until I help him put on a pair of socks with a lion picture on them and he pointed to the lion and said "arhhhhh". Pretty amusing for me!

We showed him a wedding picture of hubby and I as bride and groom and grandparents, and my sisters. When asked "Where is papa? Where is ah gong (grandpa)? Where is ah mah (grandma)? Where is yi yi (my sister)? Where is xiao yi (youngest sister)" he got them all right! He pointed to the correct person in the picture. When asked "where is mummy?" he pointed to me instead of myself in the picture. Lol! Perhaps when mummy puts on make up she looks different?

He learnt names of facial features in mandarin first. He points correctly to 头, 鼻子, 眼睛, 耳朵 but he can't say them.

He also knows how to clap when I ask him to clap and he will raise his arms above his head and wave when I ask him to do taiji.

Here's to document what he can say and know at 12 months :)

reaching the one year milestone

Kieran is coming to one year old in a week's time!
What are baby Kieran's milestones reached?

  1. has 4 front teeth, 2 upper and 2 lower. Really sharp!
  2. can crawl on all fours
  3. pull to stand up
  4. walk a little with support of the wall
  5. can crawl up and down the bed and coffee table
  6. recognise and try to say names of bus, car, star, ball, and today, I swore I heard him say "ah per" when I scrap bits of it to feed him! He points to the picture of bird, bear, and star accurately when we requested. He also roars "arghhhhh!" when he sees picture of a lion!
  7. recognise his head, nose, eyes, mouth, ears. Points to them when we ask him to.
  8. can flip a book, although not very well
  9. likes to interact with people, a natural magnet to people, even strangers on public transport
  10. can feed himself with hands

That's all I can think of now... Its amazing how fast baby grows up!

I'm proud to say that he's still having breastmilk and no milk supplements at all now!

I was away for the past few days and I missed baby so much! That was the first time I couldn't nurse baby at night for one night. Hubby said whenever he brought baby to our bedroom, and baby saw the bed, he made a really sad face and started to sob. He pointed outside, to ask hubby to bring him outside and pointed to several rooms so that hubby can bring him in "to look for mummy". When he couldn't find me after searching everywhere, he started fussing and was really sad. Hubby had to bring him downstairs to distract him and walked around carrying him until he was tired and fell asleep. When I went back, baby smiled sweetly the moment he saw me and started pulling my shirt, requesting for milk shortly after a hug.

Baby is my main motivation, and I enjoy every single moment with him!

Happy National Day + 10 month old baby!

Oh! Its baby's 10 month old on 10 August 2012! And its National Day celebration for Singapore, our beloved country! Much cause for celebration this month!

Baby & Mummy would like to wish everyone Happy National Day!

Happy Birthday, Singapore!
Love kiddy rides!

Baby has reached the following milestones:

Language:
Say "bah, bah", "vah, vah", "mah!", "ah!", "eh"... otherwise nothing much that sounds like our adult's language... He seems to understand what we were trying to say to him although he couldn't express in words. He shake his head when he doesn't want something and will hold out his hand and say "ah, ah!" if he wants something.

Motor skills:
Good pincer grasp, can feed himself finger food and actually we are now teaching him to share his food by asking him to pick up the food and feed papa or mummy instead of putting it into his mouth. He still prefers to put it into his mouth. Haha.
Able to pull himself to stand up position by holding the edges of a solid object like a table and push down.
Able to sit down from standing position by extending a hand out to the floor and slowly bend his knees.
Able to crawl instead of creep and is crawling almost all the time now.
Able to sit up straight without falling and able to move to sitting position easily while on his back or on all fours.

Personality:
His personality is starting to show although it may change throughout the years. He loves going outdoors and he's active and easily bored. Although if he's very attracted to something, he will focus and concentrate very hard on it and for a baby his age, the time he spent concentrating seems to be rather long. He likes to climb around and he likes to explore. He's one baby who cannot keep still. If we restrict him from doing what he's keen on doing, he'll protest noisily and actively by struggling to get free, make loud grunts and cry and scream at the top of his voice if he still can't get what he wants. Teaching him what is allowed and what isn't is a tedious and continuous job because babies have short memories, and even if he remembers, he still will try his luck to get his hands on the "forbidden items" or crawl into the "forbidden places" likes bathrooms and kitchens. Taking care of this little one requires one's full attention!

9 months 3 weeks old

This little one never seems to amaze me! Just now, he was standing with his hands on the edge of the coffee table and shifting himself around by shuffling his hands and feet. I put my lunch on the table, far away from him so that I could handle him with both hands in case he fell. Guess what? Quick as a rabbit, he raised his knee, pressed it on the table top, then up he goes! He's on the table and he grabbed my lunch! He's so fast, I couldn't even have the time to react! His daddy doesn't believe me until baby "performed" it once more when daddy was around to witness it. LOL. And baby did not attempt to do that when I put toys on the table. He ONLY started to quickly climb up the table when I place food on it. I guess food is the best motivator!

Today, I also tested his ability to remember names of things by holding 2 toys in front of him at one time and say the name of the toy, to test whether he chooses the correct one. He's right almost all the time! I guess it isn't just coincidental! Clever boy! Reaching the developmental milestones quick!

We went to a Cafe opened by our friend, Cafe de Paradiso, located at Tradehub 21 which is near Clementi. Its the very first time I travel with baby from Punggol all the way to Clementi by MRT alone! Lucky we avoided the rush hour crowd by taking the Circle line instead of the EW Line to Buona Vista. Good food! And thank God because baby is very corporative today. I guess he's in a good mood :)

5 months going to 6!

Wow... baby is, today, 5 months 1 week and 3 days old.
He has come a long way from the sleepy head to the boisterous squealing babe who resists naps and screams for attention.
I love my dearest little babe no matter how naughty he is or how tired he made me. I realized until now, I have not scolded him once before. To me, it doesn't make sense to scold baby now. If he did something to inconvenience me like peeing on me and on himself, pooing all over, screams and cry at the most unlikely time, he didn't intentionally mean to do them, so scolding him doesn't stop from doing them too.
He's a darling too, always smiling, always squealing in delight, and always look so cute. He's a big magnet for girls at such a young age! The NTUC Fairprice cashier, a young and pretty lady just said he's very cute. He reciprocated with a lovely gaze with his large round eyes. If he's in a good mood, he'll smile but he was tired just now.

Now he is an expert at flipping over onto his tummy. He can swivel around on his tummy to the direction he wants to face. He pushes his head and shoulder up with his arms like a mini push up. He can't flip back onto his back yet though. Sometimes, he woke up in the middle of the night to practice flipping over but he couldn't flip himself back and couldn't sleep on his tummy, so he cried. That's super cute! He can sit, supported with his arms, and with no support from me for 1 min max while watching a youtube kiddy video on iPad but his arms will feel uncomfortable after awhile and he'll cry to complain. He can vocalise consonants and vowels now, saying meh, nah, neh... but he has yet to call bababa or mamama. I'm looking forward to that day!

He has stranger anxiety but he has yet to understand separation anxiety. But I am experiencing separation anxiety ahead of him! haha. I will not have him out of sight for long. So far, the longest separation since we move to our Punggol home is when Hubby and I went for a 2hr 15min movie at Bishan while leaving him with my parents in law at Ang Mo Kio and we rushed home after the movie. He slept with us every night because we just can't imagine having to sleep without baby. If he sees stranger, he'll cry or make a "I'm about to cry" face depending on his mood. If he is full and has slept well, he might happily accept the stranger. I made sure I'm always in his sight when he is in a place he has never been before, or when there are strangers around.

Babies are such lovely creatures! Little baby Kieran is God's gift to me! Oh now, i'm also teaching him to recognize both his Chinese and English name Yun Xuan and Kieran. My parents in laws call him Yun Xuan but my parents and sisters like to call him Kieran.

I'm exhausted on many days and I haven't been to a facial since I was pregnant. A stay home mom slough 24hr but for my darling baby, every sacrifice and effort put in is worth it.

3 months developmental milestone

My dearest baby Yun Xuan is 3 months old!

At 3 months, what can he do? I must say my little babe is doing very well!
  • He can flip over very quickly with some assistance of turning him to his side and holding him in the position.
  • He can lift his head and shoulders up 45 degree without assistance while on his tummy.
  • He enjoys tummy time! Giggling at me when I bend down and babbles to him, and holding his head up to look around and occasionally focusing on a toy.
  • He moves his arms and legs while on his tummy like he wants to climb but of course he couldn't do that yet!
  • His little hands can meet in the midpoint. He likes to put his hands together in a "gong xi gong xi" gesture and sucks both hands' fingers.
  • He loves putting fingers in his mouth and suck.
  • He can grab a rattle instinctively when I tap it on his fingers.
  • He follows people with his eyes when they move around.
  • He turns to the source of loud sounds or music.
  • He meets your eyes and coos or squeals with glee.
  • He likes to babble to me when I talk to him.
  • He's a happy and smiley baby! He smiles to everyone who talks to him.
  • He laughs out loud when I put him on my tummy and surprise him by bobbing my head up.
  • He likes to stand with me holding him up by his armpits and walk around. Babies can walk and climb stairs but these are all reflexes. He enjoys it nevertheless.
